Applications
The most frequent applications for moulded and extruded products in silicone can be for products that come into contact with foodstuffs, at extreme temperatures, at low (-80°C) and high (+300°C) temperatures for pharmacological usages and therapeutic instruments.
Moulded parts can be used in irons, domestic ovens, in electrical household appliances and cars, for example as seals for connectors or motor spark-plug covers, or in the electro-technical sector with the moulding of high voltage insulators.
Products also exist in silicone co-moulded with other materials such as stainless steel in the catering sector, or with various types of plastic materials for the various mentioned uses. Extruded parts are used to produce pipes suitable to come into contact with foodstuffs such as drinking water, milk, coffee machines, pipes covered and reinforced with canvas for high pressures, etc.
Application examples:
Made-to-measure sections are found in seals for shower doors, doors and windows, car doors and for electrical household appliances, oven and sealing seals for vacuum cleaner.
Sections with expanded silicones used, for example, in lighting.
Co-extruded products, obtained from the co-extrusion of silicones with different harnesses and colours combining compact silicones with expanded silicones, inserting a flexible metal core, are used in the automotive and traction sector in general: for tractors, lorries, campers and boats.
